These people are hiding predators. You thought the Roman Catholic church was bad? Did you try reading this site? Did it ever cross your mind why they don't want you reading this site? This should speak volumes.
Demand better. Do better. Be better.

Oh man. I can't stop reading. I found my people!! I sat in church services as a family sat in one section while dear old dad sat in another. Why? Because he had gotten out of jail for sexually abusing his children and by law couldn't get close to the kids.So the church solved that by sitting them that distance apart. Disgusted? I was.Imagine how it felt to be the kids. They knew that every person knew dad had sex with them. Mom went to the hotel for hookups because he wasn't allowed to live in the home. WTF My cousins were abused by their father and it was kept "hidden" while they told the father he really had to stop that. He chose to keep raping them and his wife was told to pray for him. It's SICK AND VILE!!I confronted MY own parents and got the whole, well, it's just how things were done! They too got to live with kids mocking them at school and being made to go home to that every day until they left home. A minister busted with a prostitute but he was just witnessing. Yeah, right. I remember when that made the local news. Oh the scandal but the church supported him too in his "witnedsing". Remember the pregnant girls made to walk up front and confess her horrid sexual sin?? Meanwhile, the young man who caused that pregnancy also got to piously remain in the pew. Why? Well, the woman bears the visable shame and must publicly confess and repent of her wicked ways. No wonder so many PR girls sought a options they didn't want. You faced complete humiliation and a hurried marriage or you were shunned and kicked out.

Ask your church leaders for a copy of your church abuse policy, or the denomination's policy. If they don't have one, why? That's as much on you as the consistory. Is your church building set up properly in helping to prevent abuse? Are your schools? What are the school's policies? In matters of abuse, should the consistory handle it or should outside help be brought in? Why are you in the dark? Much discretion must be used in handling abuse cases, but with clear policies and structure you would feel better about the handling of abuse cases. I don't think the PRCA has any of these measures in place which makes the church an abusive church, which it is, by the way. The PRCA has a long, long history of hiding, and turning a blind eye to abuse. The PRCA sickens me. It's such a selfish church. It cares only for the institution, not the individual.
The above is from member: questioneverything in a thread about women.
I sat in the pew today and saw the doors being watched via camera by the sound tech. Saw fire escapes clearly marked with overhead lighting. Used handicapped accessible portions of the building. Know that the nursery is attended adequately. Etc etc etc
Do I know what kind of church abuse policy this church has….no. But I intend to find out. It’s not a prca but that doesn’t matter. All churches should have a plan and a protocol in place, carefully and thoughtfully put together.
Just as we have safety and comfort plans in our church buildings, we need to have safety plans for the real church body….the people of Christ.

It's ok for the PRC to have a convicted rapist in the pew, but they'll excommunicate someone for working on a Sunday? Got it. Na, that's not crazy? My guess is that the rapist is the money bags of the family. So you don't want to lose that revenue stream, and if someone is working on a Sunday - you've lost that revenue stream. Na, that's the crazy, right?

That is very concerning for the PRC you do begin to wonder just how deep it runs. I can't believe it is as bad as the Warren Jeffs clan.

According to this article 93% of sex offenders consider themselves VERY RELIGIOUS. That is very concerning for the PRC you do begin to wonder just how deep it runs. I can't believe it is as bad as the Warren Jeffs clan. I have a friend who is a social worker. When she moved to West Michigan she was shocked at how many abuse cases involved Reformed churches. She said majority of her cases are in religious households.

This is an exhausting day on the forum….the new memes, the thread “if you following the PRC/RPC split, the new Was it a dream? Or a nightmare?….. When you go to sit in the pew in a couple of days WHAT will you remember from this forum? You will be in the pews under the leadership of men in a particular denomination, I ask again: what will you remember from your time on this forum? And as you get your kids ready to sit in the pew with you….what will you remember from this forum? And WHAT WILL YOU DO?

I swear, if you are a woman who has no place to go, who needs to get out and to a safe place, I'm telling you that you do. My doors are open and I will shelter you as you find your way. You will be protected and they will not darken my doorstep. My new home is completely private and unseen from the road. Children welcome! I know exactly how bad it gets.

*bump* because it is Sunday - the day some sit in pews and struggle to understand how to get out I remember that anxiety like it was yesterday. Sorting my thoughts out to a background of light piano music while wearing a suit. Realizing that everybody around me that says they love me are going to hate me and gossip about me the moment I'm gone. Picturing them hearing the announcement of me asking for my papers and them staring at my mother. Seeing that switch flip for how people treat you is something you'll never forget. You'll realize how sad it is, for you, yes, but especially for them. They just have to live in the birdcage.
