It's currently on Hulu right now. I just started it. Good. It's so like abuse done by the clergy in the PRC. Made me sick. Same old tactic - abuser gets hidden & abused keeps getting abused. We must keep the pressure ON & keep demanding 3rd party investigations.

Just watched the 1st episode, kept going back to this quote about 5 minutes in which rings so true to my experience. “Now that I look back..they are trying to manipulate you into receiving and accepting the abuse that they are causing..it was traumatic, and it could have taken my life if i stayed a minute longer.”I've mentioned Wade Mullen's work previously, but for those who haven't heard of him please check out the resources below. Wade speaks from personal experience and has written extensively about the dynamics of abusers and abusive church organizations. I hope HAVEN invites Wade to speak at their next lecture and would be happy to pay his expenses. For anyone curious what talking points the PRCA could possibly create to deflect the avalanche of abuse accounts, look no further than Sovereign Grace's response to the chorus of demands for an investigation there: Thoughts on the Call for an “Independent Investigation” of Sovereign Grace Churches wadetmullen.com/wademullen.substack.com/Twitter @wademullen Wade's dissertation "Impression Management Strategies Used by Evangelical Organizations in the Wake of an Image-Threatening Event"

Wow, they make a few valid points but a lot of what they say in there is so disappointing to read. I sincerely hope an investigation goes forward for the PR but imagine they might use a similar argument about some (RP) churches not falling under their authority anymore and the impracticality of it all… bury the idea in logistics and guilt tripping people for “presuming” the accusations are substantial, ugh

I watched about 4.5 episodes today (no judgement please, I have a newborn 🤣). I do see a lot of similarities between Hillsong and PR. PR is of course much smaller, but I think if PR was in the scale of Hillsong it would be the same. One man said that being a part of Hillsong and then leaving made him lose his trust of churches (paraphrasing here, I don't remember his exact words) and I feel that too. I don't know if I can ever trust another Christian church after everything that I went through with PR and especially after I've learned far more since I left. Yes, I still stand by my beliefs, but it's being a part of a church that scares me. I don't want to raise my children in the church like that. I won't do it.
For those who haven't watched, Hillsong's leaders were also child molesters, abusers, cheaters... The list goes on. Money fraud, you name it. All of it hidden.
I guess for now I'll end this and finish up the series tomorrow hopefully.

I happened upon Hillsong Exposed & shared it on here hoping it would help those who have been abused see it's been happening & is still happening in many churches. I'm so happy you are able to see it.

These people are hiding predators. You thought the Roman Catholic church was bad? Did you try reading this site? Did it ever cross your mind why they don't want you reading this site? This should speak volumes. Demand better. Do better. Be better. Do you believe the above quoted post? Have the facts and the personal testimonies on this forum made you realize they are hiding predators? I know the above post is true. I know the pr hides predators and preaches a false gospel. I demanded better and got to leave...so I do better and am better elsewhere. You: Demand better. Do better. Be better. (maybe you will be the one to make a change) also the Hillsong documentary on hulu is worth your time.

It's a new year and you, in PR pews, can make a difference. Use your voice this year, find courage, and embrace justice. Support in every possible way you can a third party investigation. I believe your beloved church's life may depend on it. Isn't it called for? Isn't it demanded? If you're on this site and reading I can't believe you're just reading to laugh at lies...you're here for a reason. Make that reason count. Please, please support the abused. Expose the abuser and their evil to light.
"Human beings are so made that the ones who do the crushing feel nothing; it is the person crushed who feels what is happening. Unless one has placed oneself on the side of the oppressed, to feel with them, one cannot understand." - Simone Weil

Surprised by the narcissism and the wealth that corrupted what should have been the focus of the church.
