Exactly. I would think that the story of the virgin Mary is an example of the ultimate blessing God has bestowed on humankind, and that one was without a doubt filtered through a woman! ...by means of a forced pregnancy that would have caused untold amounts of social trouble, yes. Yikes. I am a Christian and your comment hurts. We don’t have to agree, that’s okay. Mary’s pregnancy is the beginning of my salvation, not social trouble.

But Mary’s pregnancy is the beginning of my salvation, not social trouble. The social trouble isn't about your salvation, it's about appearing to have had sex (and in fact having a "womb-filling" of dubious consent) before marriage and the consequences that would have played out among those who knew. This type of event could have affected a Jew for the rest of her life, I imagine. If there would have been social trouble, then it was social trouble, regardless of the salvation bit. How could this perspective be raised in a way that you would not find offensive?
