Just found this group tonight and it’s eye opening to read past stories. Finally a group of people who really understand!!
It was so hard to leave. I was 19 and I was so scared to tell my parents and that went as bad as you could imagine. Meeting with the elders after and being told I was going to hell if I didn’t come back. Them holding those imaginary papers over my head and me thinking I wouldn’t be able to go on with my life without them. I can’t believe how brainwashed I was and 22 years later I’m in such a better place.
I so wish I had a group like this to guide me through it all. I did it though! All on my own and I made it out just fine. Life is so much better on the other side.
