So before things finally hit the fan a month or so ago...and he was deposed from office.. I had a conversation with an older Expr that said “I hope he (RVO) doesn’t become the scapegoat for all the issues in the PRC.” (She actually said fall guy.)
And with the response from Grace, and the lack of accountability the consistory took in the whole process —ie..exposing the church (the sheep) to him consciously or unconsciously for years (15 or so). . . Does the PRC think now, there is no work to be done?
Do they actually think this was a “first time offense” (or 4th??) and that the church will go hunky dory on it way back to “business as usual?”

100% business as usual, at least the church/school I live by. I asked if they had written policies on counseling and was scoffed at.

If anyone thinks that all of the victims of RVO came forward to Grace's consistory you're as deluded as the PRC or RPC. www.rainn.org/statistics/criminal-justice-system#:~:text=Only%20310%20out%20of%20every,out%20of%203%20go%20unreported.&text=Members%20of%20the%20military%3A%2043,10%25%20of%20male%20victims%20reported.

This makes me sick…to think there would be no change in policy after blatant misuse. I said elsewhere NO ONE! NO ONE should be allowed to meet with your child (under 18) alone. No male, no female, no minister, no law enforcement, NO ONE. Not grandma, not ex spouse, not reporter, no college recruiter, no coach. This isn’t hard and it’s not outrageous. It should be done. Schools have policies for emergencies, for health concerns (epi pens, food allergies), rules for bus riding, for building use, perhaps even from gun violence….why wouldn’t a school or parents protect their kids from possible harm from a person!

I think there is a lot of unspoken abuse not addressed including the abuse that I dealt with in their hands. There was no place for me to go with things I have see or heard, because of my gender, it will be questioned. The benefit of doubt always is given to the accused. What I was saying initially —there was not even an attempt in that letter to take responsibility for their (the consistory’s) part in the abuse (remaining complicit after so many came forward for such a long time.) and then like what mentioned, all those who haven’t —for whatever reason. Kinda at the point WHY EVEN go to the church with these issues —since in the end they will point to privacy due to church/state relations when pressed with their part of any situation. It’s such a cop out, and completely unnecessary if that’s the final “play”.
