Thank you Heidi for being willing to do this podcast. It is raw because it tells the truth. I wish the second part was airing today, because even though I know "the rest of your story" a little bit, to see how God has worked it out "all for good" would be so much more satisfying (delayed gratification is not a strong point here). The anguish, agony, disbelief, suicide ideation, confusion, and alienation are all too familiar to me,
but so also is the turning of the corner to see the real TRUTH, Jesus, and those four little letters: L O V E and not p r c a. I'm excited to hear the rest of your story! And I hope/know there's a lot more to be written in the future!

It's so important for me and all of us to hear stories like our own! After watching part 1, this is foremost in my mind.
Heidi, I can relate to so much of your story. From being the oldest girl (I'm from a family of 6 kids), to having a curious nature and asking questions with frustrating results. Then in high school, discovering that my coworkers who went to public school were more sincere Christians than anyone I knew at my Christian school.
I said before that the PRC seems like an especially hard environment for those with a questioning nature and I'm even more convinced after hearing your story. Also have always wondered if the church is especially hard for oldest children who are girls. There seems to be a trend, but I don't know enough about other people's stories to be sure.
And thank you for your comment that this lifestyle is poor preparation for the real world. Is it ever! I can already hear the typical PR response "that's why you aren't supposed to leave," but of course there are all kinds of red flags within that response.

Powerful podcast, Heidi, powerful. Well done! Maybe you wrote about this on the Forum, I don't remember, but I was floored when you said your parents hired an attorney to remove your children from you. I was horrified! If that had happened, I fear it would have killed you. The possible ramifications of that made me sick. They may have freely let your ex visit the kids, worse, even let him raise them. Our heavenly Father sure watched over your children and you through the whole long haul! Just like you said, "I'm thankful for a God who loved me so fiercely through this." And, how you said God assured you, "I've got this." So true!

Oh my goodness. Almost 1600 views! Please, please share this and ask for it to be shared. I'm mildly embarrassed to say that because I am NOT trying to promote myself. It's the story I want out there because I am just one of SO MANY OTHERS!!I am receiving messages daily and it drives me onward. Please know that sharing it helps people. They are telling me themselves! Even people hurt in non PR churches contacted me!
This forum is incredible and we have a huge opportunity here. Please do not let up now! Keep the pressure on and in fact, crank it up. Make the demands that need to be made. The PR/RP churches do NOT want this mainstream. I want it to be visible in the mainstream world. I want the heat applied until they start communicating and owning the evils they allow and allowed to be done in the name of Christianity and Pure Preaching. I almost puked writing that. Lol. Thanks everyone for your amazing support!
