Wondering if watching this site on a Sunday is forbidden. I'm guessing it is. My manservant and maidservant are both watching the Lions instead.

I never knew true rest on Sundays until I left the PRC. Right now, I would be listening to my umpteenth reading of the commandments.
"...in it, thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is with thy gates..."
Nowhere in that verse does it mention a day of rest for the wife. They spend the day running around making "dinner" so everyone else can "rest" and spend the day talking about the sermon and acting like they are holiest. Heck, even thy cattle got a break. Although I would much rather be in the kitchen than talking to other PRC...
So glad to be truly enjoying and resting on the Lord's Day now. Happy Sunday everyone.

No work on Sunday unless you are a doctor or a nurse...or a police officer (although that was wrong until classis said it was OK)...or a mother or a fireman, ...or a farmer. Wait...it is wrong to work in my garden and make no money, but if I milk my cows and sell the milk, that is ok? If it is really about doing the work because it is required, shouldn't the money be donated? Do you think people would still work on Sunday if they didn't get paid? The legalism mentality has some problems doesn't it.

I rarely heard the sermon talked about after church, you must have a holy family:)

The legalism mentality has some problems doesn't it. I remember there was an article about this Sunday work and how the Bible mentions if your ass falls in a ditch you can get it out, but they went on to say that if it falls in a ditch every Sunday you will either fill in the ditch or sell your ass. I never heard of farmers selling their cows because they need to milk them every sunday

But you're not allowed to work at on on a Sunday. So the answer is "the world serves the church"? Got it, Cheeseburger with extra lettuce...hold the pickle, extra fries, please. I have a church pass.

If I remember correctly, vacationing anywhere that a prca church is not in the vicinity is frowned upon. Pretty sure I read that in the standard bearer at one time.

From the Standard Bearer, 1976: "Does this mean that we should go on vacations only near one of our churches, or at least so that we can reach one of them by Sunday? Yes, that is true. Then we cannot go anywhere we desire. The physical desire to visit far away lands must be curbed in the light of our spiritual obligation to glorify God in the highest possible way."What a load of bullshit.

This is bullshit derived from fear and the subsequent desire to control. Absolutely disgusting, male dominated behavior. I know there are good people in the prca, but collectively and corporately, the denomination is an example of selfish, tribal, male pride and ignorance.

I think the prca sentiment would be that was written by someone in 1976, over 40 years ago, life is different in 2019. Isn't there a standard bearer article written recently in the last few years about this, that we can honor our unchanging God with?

The PRC would live like the Amish if they could give up their TV's. 40 years ago is good enough for them now tho.

I literally laughed so hard I snorted. ! Glorify God in the highest possible way?!!? So funny that they glorify God in the highest way every Sunday when they intentionally ignore certain people at church - because they don’t agree with each other.... ahhhh another laugh
