Now they will never say that education is bad. But the horrible comments and cynicism that occurs when women go to college is prevalent. I've witnessed this in my own family many times.

I've seen that PRs will berate women for going into post-secondary education. Basically "why are you wasting your future husband's money when you are supposed to be a keeper at home?"

This certainly is not the norm. I'm glad you're no longer a member, but you hint at a "different" story with your wording of "short while". As far as your question, personally I think the PR view of education is cynical and fearful in general. I suspect there is a huge sigh of relief if a post secondary graduate of the PR church still remains, whether female or male, and I agree it, education, is frowned upon with females, with the possible exception of primary education for teaching jobs (the position of which I suspect has a significant turnover rate due to PR evangelism...or pregnancy in other words). Of course the other side of this is that the more education you receive (male or female) the less of a barrier is put to you in regard to the minister's education. They get schooled in the fantastic seminary where they get taught hermanutical(sp) principles along with how to properly explain a bible passage. Then they throw in a little Greek too because, well, who speaks and learns Greek these days! They are to be looked on as the "learn-ed one". So when you get a real education, and now you are a WOMAN on top of it, well, this just threatens the entire cult to it's core. You should be washing dishes, barefoot and preggers.

The PRC view is that women are to be moms, slave over their husband, stay home and raise kids.....the only reason for woman to get an education is to become a teacher in a PR school. If you are a PR woman and attend a 'secular' college, the consistory of your church would work very hard to be sure you come back to the PR church you came from.
