The PRC isn’t the only isolationalist group. Check this out. Mennonite church that runs so very similarly.. Even the stance on divorce and remarriage.. When it spelled out like this, the control is so much more easily seen. www.nlfchurchgrant.com/Even other Reformed churches can see how when certain voices have all the say, then that is where the life/freedom of the church disintegrates. When you open your door to the robust variety of life at your doorstep, it’s not so scary. There are good people who do life differently than you. And it’s a beautiful thing.

This is how the PRCA will end up if they don't show up to this party. Their whole idea of "each church is an island" governed by a larger body won't cut the mustard.

It's scary how much that denomination and PR are alike isn't it. Wow.

"Parallel Universe" is right. This is bizarre. It's so close!

Thanks for posting this!
Women Talking, based on the book of the same name by Miriam Toews, is being released as a movie in December. Toews wrote the fiction novel as a way to creatively process and tell truth about an actual event that transpired in a Mennonite sect connected to her own upbringing.

Interesting book title.. my former counselor actually said the women are talking and know something is off in the prc, and the psychological affects are showing up as mental health issues and chronic health issues.

Women play a much more important role in the PRC than the men give them credit for. #realityCheck

I have had a lot of experience in the prc with emotionally unhealthy mothers and grandmother's. Depression, overly controlling, auto immune disease, anxiety, control issues, ocd, anger, controlling (did i mention this one lol). These are symptoms of a spiritually and emotionally abusive environment.

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease when things were really bad for me. Oddly enough, after I moved/left PR I never had symptoms again. Yes, maybe wrongfully diagnosed but it all definitely played a part on my health.

And interestingly enough - I never was that ill ever again...all stress and mental head games leads to illness. Your body has to have an outlet somehow.

This is so true!! So much autoimmune, thyroid disorders, and anxiety caused from this church! for example, Thyroid conditions have been shown to progress because of suppressed emotion and stress. All of which happens in the PRC! It's such an unhealthy environment. Women feel they have to keep their head down and just have more babies. It's so so sad!!

Honestly.. I think it’s in the entire Reformed circles and the West Michigan culture.

Honestly.. I think it’s in the entire Reformed circles and the West Michigan culture. So true! Leading to an important question: Can you get it all out and have it Reformed? Or, can you reform and still end up being Reformed?

Yes, maybe wrongfully diagnosed but it all definitely played a part on my health. I believe there is a segment in The Body Keeps The Score which references that people with PTSD and similar diagnoses have higher incidences of autoimmune disease.
